Privacy notice

In short: this website uses no cookies, no analytics and no tracking. The only personal data we ask for is your email address, if you choose to subscribe to our newsletter.

Who we are

Losgeld Press is a small independent publisher based in the Netherlands. Losgeld Press is responsible (the ‘controller’) for the personal data described in this notice. You can reach us at losgeldpress@protonmail.com. As a small press we have not appointed a data protection officer; please write to the address above with any question about your data.

Visiting this website

This website sets no cookies and contains no analytics, advertising or social-media plug-ins. It loads no scripts, and its fonts and images are served from this website itself, not from outside services.

Like every website, these pages are delivered by a hosting provider, [TO FILL: hosting provider, location of processing]. To deliver the pages and keep the service secure, its servers may automatically record technical data such as your IP address, browser type and the time of your visit. We do not use this data to identify visitors or to follow what you read.

The newsletter

What we collect. Only your email address, and the date and time at which you subscribed and confirmed your subscription, so that we can show that you gave your consent.

How you subscribe. After you enter your address, you receive an email asking you to confirm. Your address is only added to the list once you click the confirmation link (double opt-in).

Why. To send you news from Losgeld Press: when a book is published, and occasionally when a new one is in preparation. We do not use your address for anything else, and we never sell it.

Legal basis. Your consent (Article 6(1)(a) of the General Data Protection Regulation, GDPR). Subscribing is voluntary; if you do not subscribe, the only consequence is that you do not receive the newsletter.

Who handles it for us. The newsletter is sent through an external newsletter service, [TO FILL: service name, location of processing], which stores your address on our behalf and only on our instructions. [TO FILL: does any data leave the European Economic Area? If yes: to which country and on what legal basis, e.g. an EU adequacy decision or standard contractual clauses. If no: ‘Your data is stored within the European Economic Area.’]

Opens and clicks. [TO FILL: ‘We have switched off the tracking of opens and clicks.’ (recommended) — or, if tracking stays on, say what is recorded and why.]

How long we keep it. For as long as you are subscribed. If you unsubscribe, we delete your address within [TO FILL: number of days, e.g. 30]. [TO FILL: if the service keeps unsubscribed addresses on a block list so that they are never mailed again, say so here.] Sign-ups that are never confirmed are deleted after [TO FILL: number of days].

We make no automated decisions about you and do not build profiles.

When you email us

If you write to us, we use your email address and message only to reply, on the basis of our legitimate interest in answering your message (Article 6(1)(f) GDPR). We delete the correspondence once it is no longer needed. Our email is provided by Proton AG in Switzerland, a country recognised by the European Commission as offering an adequate level of data protection.

Your rights

You have the right to:

  • ask which personal data we hold about you and receive a copy (access);
  • have incorrect data corrected (rectification);
  • have your data deleted (erasure);
  • withdraw your consent at any time, by using the unsubscribe link in every newsletter or by emailing us; this does not affect anything done before you withdrew it;
  • where the law allows, restrict or object to the use of your data, or receive your data in a common electronic format (portability).

Send your request to losgeldpress@protonmail.com. It is free of charge. We may ask you to confirm that the email address is yours before we act. We reply within one month; if a request is complex, this may be extended by up to two further months, in which case we tell you within the first month.

Complaints

If you are unhappy with how we handle your data, please tell us first so that we can put it right. You also have the right to lodge a complaint with the Dutch data protection authority, the Autoriteit Persoonsgegevens, or with the supervisory authority in the EU country where you live.

Changes

If we change how we handle personal data, for example when we choose a different newsletter service, we will update this notice and the date at the top.
